巴拉瑞特大学11周注册护士课程 The PPOQN(Pre-registration Program for Overseas Qualified Nurses)is a 11 week non-award course that leads to registration as a Division 1 Nurse with the Nurses Board of Victoria (NBV).The program contains boththeoretical and clinicalcomponents and is delivered at accredited health care venues in central and western Victoria that are‘Partnered’with the University of Ballarat.Both components of the program require satisfactory completion of assignments and/or clinical competencies. Course Objectives The aims of this course are to: ü Provide an overview of theAustralian health care system ü Extend knowledge and skills regardingstandards of the nursing profession and health care needs ü Foster the development ofintellectual curiosity and critical thinking ü Provide a focus on rural and regional health care issues;and ü Enable registration as a division 1 Nurse with the NBV. Course Structure The 420 hour course is delivered over 11 weeks and consists of 3 units which are delivered so that they overlap, to allow integration of theory and practice, and to maximise teaching and learning. NQ301 Health Care inAustralia examines the social, political and economic make-up of the Australian health care system. It looks at bureaucratic and professional structures and the allocation and organisation of financial and human resources in health care inAustralia; the legislation impacting on health care and the accreditation framework inAustralia; and the increasing focus on quality improvement and effective risk management. This unit also aims to develop within students, knowledge of rural and regional health care models and an appreciation of the special nature of these communities in VIC andAustralia. NQ302 Professional Nursing inAustralia examines the changing nature of professional nursing inAustralia, within the broader context of health care change. Areas explored include the social, political and cultural factors affecting nursing practice. Issues to be examined include health and illness from a cultural perspective; the nature and influence of selected legal and ethical issues, evidence based practice and nursing in a regional and rural context. NQ303 Contextual Nursing Practice inAustralia Equates to58%of the total program and focuses on enabling students to reflect on their cultural and practice experiences within one or more health care agencies inAustralia. Students will participate in a comprehensive orientation to the health care agency where the9 week clinical componentof the unit will be undertaken. Prior to commencing the clinical learning program, students will demonstrate their competence in relation to specific skills that are mandatory for professional nurses within the Australian health care environment. Students develop individual learning contracts that cover the four domains of the ANC National Competency Standards.
