This course is designed for students who are currently Registered Nurses in an overseas country and wish to register in Australia or to add to their registration within their own country (specifically China and Singapore).
This eight-unit degree provides practicing Registered Nurses opportunity to further their knowledge and skills in nursing practice, nursing leadership, cultural and Indigenous health care, teaching, research and management: essential for excellent professional practice.
Admission Requirements:International students must have completed a three year post-secondary professional nurse education program and be eligible for registration as a nurse in the country in which they qualified. They must also meet IELTS language requirements.
Special Requirements:The Health Department of Western Australia requires that all onshore international Chinese students enrolling in the course require a Police Clearance. Students are required to sign a consent form allowing the Health Department of Western Australia to obtain a Criminal Record Clearance from the National Exchange of Police Information Bureau. The Police clearance must be obtained prior to students commencing their first clinical practice.
Students are responsible for maintaining a level of health that enables them to undertake and meet the clinical requirements of the program and provide safe practice in nursing. Health screenings and/or immunisations are requirements of enrolment for clinical practice units. The screenings are for MRSA, Varicella (Chicken Pox), Measles-Mumps-Rubella, TB and Hepatitis B. Immunisations include Hepatitis B, Measles-Mumps-Rubella, Varicella, Tetanus–Diptheria, Poliomyelitis and others that may be identified by specific clinical settings.
A current certificate of cardiopulmonary resuscitation(CPR)competence is mandatory from all students prior to the commencement of clinical practice.
Evidence must be provided and sighted prior to commencement of clinical practice for all the above.
Accreditation and Registration:Once the course has been accredited with the Nurses Board of Western Australia, and International students have successfully completed the academic and clinical requirements and met specific English language requirements, registration as a nurse in Western Australia will be an option.
All nurses who are applying for migration to Australia must prove English language proficiency by taking one of two tests. These are: IELTS 7, OET B pass.
